A session is a named terminal in your workspace. Open terminal signs you in to it in a new tab. Each card is one grant; last active is the last time you typed into it.
Start or reopen a session by name
Join from your terminal
Use your computer's own terminal app (Terminal on a Mac, any terminal on Linux) instead of the browser. You see the same session; both can be open at once.
Opens your session in this terminal window:
To leave without stopping anything, detach: press Ctrl+Alt+g, then d. Your programs keep running in the workspace.
First time on this computer? Set up rt (four steps, once)
No operator step: rt login signs this computer in from this page, with a device credential of its own.
Install Zellij 0.45.1
rt attach needs exactly this version. This downloads it from Zellij's release page for your Mac or Linux computer, checks its checksum and prints zellij 0.45.1:
Install rt
The rt program connects your terminal to your workspace. It needs Python 3.9 or later (python3 --version). This downloads the version that matches this service:
Sign in rt: run rt login
rt prints a code and waits. To keep rt on your path in new windows, add the first line to ~/.zshrc (Mac) or ~/.bashrc (Linux).
Approve it here
Type the code rt login shows. Approve only a computer where you ran rt login just now: whoever holds the code gets access as you.
Once approved, rt saves a credential for that computer by itself, readable only by you. Nothing to copy; it is never shown. Then rt attach above just works.
Secrets
Passwords, tokens and keys your workspace may use. Values are always masked; Reveal shows one here for a few seconds. A secret reaches only its assigned workspaces, and only while you are attached and typing, unless you allow unattended use.
GitHub App secrets need a separate GitHub connection for this owner. OIDC sign-in does not link accounts. Ask your operator about owner bindings, or use a Git token secret.

Workspaces
You may have one active workspace: a hosted workspace created here, or one machine you enroll yourself. Delete or revoke it before adding another.
Hosted workspace
Machines
Connect a machine you run yourself
An enrollment code connects a machine you run yourself as your workspace. It works once, for five minutes.
Your devices
Computers signed in with rt login. Revoking one signs it out at once and closes its open terminals.
Vault lock
Locking takes effect at once. Unlocking needs a fresh sign-in from the last few minutes.
Activity
The audit record of your account: what happened and when, never a secret's value.
